This policy explains what MacroRush ("the app") does with your information. It describes the app as published on Google Play by Cosmo Labz ("we").
Everything you record stays in the app's private storage on your phone:
MR-7K4M-2QX9) and a matching secret, both
generated randomly on your phone. These are not derived from your identity, your
hardware, or anything about you, and they are only shared if you choose to send someone
a challenge.
None of this is transmitted to us. We operate no server that receives your food diary, and we have no way to read it.
| What | Goes to | When |
|---|---|---|
| A product barcode number, and nothing else | Open Food Facts, a non-profit open food database | Only when you scan a barcode. Turn it off under Settings and the app stops contacting them entirely. |
| Your purchase of a premium Calorie Meter | Google Play | Only if you buy one. Google processes the payment and we never see your card details, address or name. The app records only which meter you unlocked, on your device. |
| An ad request, and the Advertising ID if you allowed it | Google AdMob | Only when you tap Watch ad on the Lumen meter. Nothing about your food, goals or scores is included. See Advertising below. |
| A backup of your diary, goals, scores and unlocks | A private app folder in your own Google Drive | Only if you connect a Google account on the Profile screen and tap Back up now. See Account and backup. |
| Whatever you choose to sync | A server address you enter yourself, under Settings | Only if you set one up. The app ships with no server configured, so this does not happen unless you deliberately make it happen, to a machine you control. |
Your meal photos are never uploaded. They are saved in the app's private folder and stay there.
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Camera | To photograph a meal you are logging, and to scan product barcodes. Photos stay on your device. |
| Internet, network state | Barcode lookups, Google Play purchases, and telling you when you are offline. |
| Vibration | Haptic feedback when you tap things. |
| Billing | Selling the three premium Calorie Meters through Google Play. |
Two further permissions, USE_BIOMETRIC and USE_FINGERPRINT,
appear in the app's listing because they are declared by a storage library we use. The app
never asks for a fingerprint or a face scan, and never accesses biometric data.
You can connect a Google account from the Profile screen to back up your data. This is optional; the app works fully without it.
When you connect, the app asks Google for permission to use a private, app-specific folder in your own Google Drive — and nothing else in your Drive. Your backup (meals, goals, daily scores, friends, unlocked meters and settings; never photos) is written to that folder as a single file. It is stored in your Google account, under Google's privacy policy. We have no server and no access to it.
The app keeps your Google account email address on the phone so it can show which account holds the backup. It is not sent anywhere. Tapping Disconnect removes it; the backup in your Drive stays until you delete it (Google Drive → Settings → Manage apps → MacroRush → Delete hidden app data).
Purchases are separate: a meter bought through Google Play belongs to your Google Play account and can be restored on any phone from the meter picker.
One Calorie Meter design, Lumen, can be unlocked by watching a short rewarded ad on thirty separate days. The ads are served by Google AdMob. They appear only when you tap the Watch ad button — the app never shows an ad on its own, and every other part of the app is ad-free.
To serve an ad, Google receives an ad request from your device and, if you have allowed it, your device's Advertising ID. Google may use this to select ads and to measure them. Nothing from your food diary is included in that request. How Google handles that data is described in Google's advertising policy.
In the European Union and the UK, the app asks for your consent before any ad is requested, using Google's consent form. If you decline, ads are still shown when you ask for one but are not personalised. You can change your choice at any time from the same screen. You can also reset or delete your Advertising ID in your phone's Google settings.
MacroRush allows Android's standard automatic backup. If you have device backup switched on in your Android settings, your food diary may be included in the backup that Android makes to your own Google account. That copy is governed by Google's privacy policy, not this one, and we have no access to it. The app's stored secret is excluded from backups. You can turn Android backup off in your phone's system settings.
MacroRush is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone. As the app holds no data of its own, there is nothing for us to delete on request.
Uninstalling the app removes its database, your photos and all of its settings from your phone. Because none of it was ever sent to us, uninstalling is complete deletion — there is no server copy to request the removal of. If you have Android backup switched on, remove the app's backup from your Google account as well.
MacroRush records what you eat and the goals you set. That is health-related information and we treat it as private by design: it is kept on your device, not on a server. The app is a food diary, not a medical device, and does not diagnose, treat or manage any medical condition.
If the app starts doing something this policy does not describe, the policy will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
